Not sure who to even go to about this, but I commented on a post somewheresaying a car was overrated, went on to say, yeah, its a great car, I wouldn't own one. Now a massive debate has started, but rather then anyone give a valid point other then "automatics are better for performance" everyone is just insulting, and assuming. I've gone on to say, yeah, I'd rather have a manual, as most Jalop's that I'm aware of, and thought for sure someone would agree that they'd rather have a bit of character with they're sports/super car, and honestly was mostly said just to have a bit of fun talking about how much we love cars, but nope, get insulted instead (car in question - GTR btw). I said in it, its a great car, yes, I'd love to drive one, but not to own one. I've been called a retard for not realizing automatics perform better (even though I know full well it does), a 12 year old (just..wow), been informed manuals don't give a bigger penis (once again, wow). All because I said its over hyped, and not the 'best' car like everyone sais it is. All of a sudden I'm called a fool, a retard, and small penis'd ? My 350Z gets insulted and people assume I've never been in a GTR without even asking? No valid point to give other then performance? I gave a opinion on a car, because I want more soul out of a car. And that's a right to attack me? Really? I know not everyone on here is like that, and most of you are awesome, but seriously disgusted right now with quite a few people on here. I'll joke about cars not being great, but in the end, I'm just glad we all love cars and can share that in common. You can make me love any car if you talk me into it, as long as it has a gas pedal and a engine. But offending me, my knowledge, my penis size, my car, all over assumptions made by yourself? ..Just...wow.. and rally Lancia to make myself feel better, and also, thank you to everyone commenting on my introduction post :) atleast someeeee people are willing to talk and learn about me rather then assume based of reading one sentence of a conversation.

Was this on Jalopnik, oppo, or other? Just curious. Some people can get pretty flamey on oppo, but its rare. Pretty common on Jalopnik, but the real jalops are usually quick to step up to the plate. Any other place? all bets are off.

...my analogies are terrible.

To me, manuals are fun pieces of kit, but definitely a personal preference thing. Some people will take only a DCT for the precision, some just want a nice automatic on the Autobahn, and some want to shift their own on the twisties. Don't take it personally.

I'd be a manual guy, by the way.

If I could add one bit of advice though? its cool to have an opinion, but just remember its just your idea and may not be shared. being accepted means accepting others view points without too much argument, or at least hearing them out. I'd be perfectly content listening to what they had to say, if they could put words together without insult, as well as give more the one valid point. To YOU it doesn't have a soul. But to others it does. I think E30s and E36s are like un-housebroken dogs with learning disabilities. Others think they are the best cars ever made. I could never live with an FR-S in my life - to me it doesn't feel right, there's not nearly enough room, it needs more power, it's too expensive, etc......but so many people say the opposite and again think it is the best new car you can buy today. The thing is, no one is wrong or right in those circumstances so long as you back up your opinion with reasons why.

I got into a heated discussion with another member over the fact that being FWD does not automatically mean a car can't be a performance car. He just kept repeating it and denying any instance where a FWD car was faster than a similarly equipped or priced RWD car. So that's where the dismiss button came in.

You're dangerously close to shit-stirring behavior here, and picking on one or two commenters seems to be the primary subject of your post. When you didn't name them or link to them, I had less to worry about. But when you linked to the thread, it brings up a potential for others to pile on in a conversation that is better left untouched.

Additionally, FWIW, a number of professional race and rally drivers prefer the new DCT systems over traditional manuals because they perform better on the track. Where it truly matters.

No worries. Everyone needs to vent now and again. Just be mindful of not calling too much attention to the actual conversation so that others feel compelled to defend you. We're a fairly tightknit group here, and a lot of do tend to jump in. I just don't want to turn posts like this into a call to arms post.

And yes, a lot of those drivers still own manuals for their DD's. But give them a choice when they are working (e.g. racing), and they will choose the faster option, every time.

There was a FP article about the tricked out SUV that Infinity made for Seb. I commented that it was sad that Infiniti's name is on the Red Bull F1 car yet it doesn't have a high-end sports car to give the F1 champ. I said it would be nice if Infiniti made a version of the GTR and gave that to Seb.

He said I was stupid (and other things) because Infiniti has a performance version of its version of the Nissan Z. I didn't even know they had that. And even if I did it wasn't the point. I didn't mean to say that Infiniti makes bad cars. I just meant that they could stand to have a halo-type sports car since they are branding themselves as a motorsports - influenced company now due to F1. I like the Z and I like sports sedans that mix luxury with performance (I have two M3 myself). I just think that a company like Infiniti could stand to have a purpose-built and high-end sports car to better leverage their investment in F1 and to use in marketing situations like when they make a special edition for Seb.

I didn't think my opinion was inflammatory or negative. I was just wishing that Seb was given something other than an SUV since he is a multi F1 champ...

That is so lame. There is no point in a car like that. It would be much better to just get the Z.

Infiniti should do it right. Their version should have moar power to make up for the added weight from the luxury stuff. And it should def have an MT or at least a DCT. And some unique body panels to set it apart from the standard Infiniti model.

Yeah, I seem to remember some things being abit differnet, I've driven both, the Z feels more sporty for sure..granted, the G35 I drove was a auto..it also had a super nice exhaust under it, and my Z still just feels faster. Could of been a slightly older G35 I guess, but not sure, they do have rear seats so I'm sure it weighs more too..specially since mine is the base model, witch means I have everything I need to be happy, aside from blue tooth (working on) and a LSD (also working on)..and from there, ill just make it so I'm happier with it...coilovers, brakes..pooweeeerrrrrrrr... yeah :) but yeah, guess they just want to keep infinti for luxury..who knows

Why be involved in F1 if you're just going to focus on luxury? The F1 car should say Nissan on it then.

And have you seen how low the GTR sales are in the US? The car beats the crap out of more expensive cars yet it doesn't sell. Maybe if Infiniti made a version with a nicer interior, magna ride dampers, and a different looking interior it would sell.

i'm not sure either! i think the engine is a renault. and renault owns some of nissan. and they decided to put infiniti's name on it instead of renault.
